Although the make-up of the Doppler Trio is that of a traditional jazz combo, their sound is anything but conservative. Synthesizers, effects, folk influences, vocals and Eastern rhythms are just a few of the ingredients that the trio mix into their modern jazz sound.
Though not averse to complexity, they like to keep hold of the emotional driving sound that you also hear from groups like Portico Quartet, Mammal Hands, GoGo Penguin, Grandbrothers and Cinematic Orchestra. This German-Dutch band takes to the stage in Rotterdam within the framework of the annual exchange between the Festival Jazz International Rotterdam and its sister event, Festival Jazz International Nijmegen.
