About RAUW
RAUW, formerly Festival Jazz International Rotterdam, stands for adventurous music that explores the fringes of jazz. The festival presents artists who not only caress the ears, but also challenge, ask questions and amaze. Almost everything presented at RAUW is new, perhaps still in development or even in an experimental phase. The festival namely invites local makers and facilitates them to create new projects and realize their artistic dreams. In this light, national and international cooperation and exchanges also take place at RAUW.
Since 2001, Festival Jazz International Rotterdam (FJIR) has been a successful jazz festival in Rotterdam with current, adventurous and high-quality jazz, which with a programme of national and international allure, offers ample attention to Rotterdam makers, young talent, new projects and in-depth fringe programming. In 2021 Jazz International Rotterdam will continue with even more young makers and new projects centered around the Rotterdam scene and sound; a continuation of the new course that the organization has set in recent years. The festival also shows its new face in terms of name and location. It will continue under the new name RAUW and will be presented at locations in Rotterdam that match the festival programme. On 27 and 28 October 2021, RAUW will settle for the first time in the Maassilo in the Maashaven in Rotterdam.
